Please be careful and let&#8217;s stop the insanity of snapping caliper bolts and stripping caliper threads.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There are numerous articles stating why the damn manual is wrong. Specifically, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iwsti.com\/threads\/attn-sti-owners-torque-spec-for-front-caliper-bolts.84922\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/forums.nasioc.com\/forums\/showthread.php?t=2894993\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this<\/a> and lastly, more importantly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iwsti.com\/threads\/brake-caliper-bolts-anti-seize-torque-specs.288724\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>On top of this, Aluminum and Steel don&#8217;t mix!\u00a0 It&#8217;s called galvanic\u00a0<em>corrosion.<\/em>\u00a0 To combat the corrosion, the solution is to use a copper anti-seize compound.\u00a0 This compound can handle high heat and deter the dreaded bonding that is galvanic corrosion.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>DO NOT TORQUE TO SPEC<\/strong> <\/em>when using anti-seize!\u00a0 Each type of anti-seize has a coefficient since with anti-seize, it&#8217;s all about the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>squeeze<\/em><\/span> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engineersedge.com\/material_science\/antiseize_compound_application_review_13389.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">clamp load<\/a> and not the torque.\u00a0 I&#8217;m using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.permatex.com\/products\/lubricants\/specialty-lubricants-anti-seize\/permatex-copper-anti-seize-lubricant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Permatex Cooper Anti-Seize Lubricant #39772.<\/a> Any time a torque value is given and then you use a lubricant, one should, as a rule <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">reduce the torque value by 25%<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FRONT BREMBOS: use 60ft-lbs lubricated with copper anti-seize!
